District Involvement

Each year the WSTI coordinator in each CESA provides staff development and technical assistance to two districts who volunteer to participate in the WSTI project. Many districts are participating to increase their compliance on Indicators #13, #14, #1 and #2.

A "Transition in the IEP" review is conducted to provide the district with baseline information on documentation of the IDEA 2004 Transition requirements in the district's IEPs. The district then works with the WSTI coordinator to analyze the data and set goals for self-improvement. Based on the needs of the district, the coordinator provides ongoing training and technical support to the district's staff and parents. One year later a second "Transition in the IEP" review is conducted to provide the district with data on their progress. There is no cost to the district for the IEP review and subsequent staff development. The district must sign a letter of commitment and agree to provide staff release time in the amount of approximately 15 hours. If the district opts to continue working with the WSTI coordinator after one year, additional time may be purchased through the CESA for those services.

If you would like your district to be involved in the WSTI project during the next school year, please contact your WSTI Coordinator.
